China Iron and Steel Association: Social inventory of 5 major steel varieties in 21 cities reaches 11.64 million tons, unchanged from the previous period

The China Iron and Steel Association released the mid-March 2026 steel social inventory monitoring weekly report. The report states that in 21 cities, the social inventory of five major steel products is 11.64 million tons, remaining flat month-on-month; an increase of 4.43 million tons since the beginning of the year, up 61.4%; and an increase of 790,000 tons compared to the same period last year, up 7.3%. In mid-March, regionally, the social steel inventory across seven major regions fluctuated, with East China experiencing the largest increase in volume and percentage, South China the largest decrease in volume, and Southwest the largest decline in percentage.
