On March 23, Li Chenggang, Deputy Minister and International Trade Negotiation Representative of the Ministry of Commerce, met with Zhang Zhi-xian, Chairman of Temasek Holdings in Singapore. The two sides exchanged views on China’s economic development, the international situation, and China-Singapore economic and trade cooperation. Li Chenggang stated that the world is currently experiencing turmoil, with rising unilateralism and protectionism, intensified geopolitical conflicts, severely disrupting the international economic and trade order and impacting international economic and trade cooperation. China firmly supports multilateralism and free trade, upholds the multilateral trading system centered on the World Trade Organization, promotes the improvement of a more just and reasonable international economic and trade order, and aims to achieve inclusive and balanced economic globalization. Li Chenggang pointed out that China has formulated and implemented the 14th Five-Year Plan, which will further advance high-level opening-up and respond to various uncertainties with the certainty of high-quality development. China will continue to embrace global markets, focus on building a super-large domestic market, and provide more opportunities for multinational companies. We welcome Temasek to continue investing in China and to achieve win-win cooperation. Zhang Zhi-xian expressed that Temasek is full of confidence in China’s economic prospects, will seize the opportunities brought by China’s 14th Five-Year Plan, continue to expand investment in China, actively uphold a rules-based international order, and promote the stable development of China- Singapore economic and trade relations.
