Deep Tide TechFlow message: On April 6, according to Caixin Global, Iran’s Supreme Leader’s foreign affairs adviser, Velayati, on May 5 warned the United States that if it “makes another mistake,” the Iran-led Resistance Front will take retaliatory measures by blocking the Strait of Hormuz. On that day, Velayati posted on social media, saying: “Today, the unified command of the Resistance Front views the Strait of Mandeb just like the Strait of Hormuz. If the White House makes another stupid mistake, it will soon realize that with just one action, global energy and trade flows will be interrupted.” The Strait of Mandeb connects the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, serving as the throat passage linking the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Indian Ocean. This strait is within the areas controlled by Yemen’s Houthi armed forces. Some media reports believe that Velayati’s post was a response to the threats Trump made to Iran that same day. On May 5, Trump posted a message again calling on Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz and threatening that “April 7 will be Iran’s power plant day and bridge day,” implying a plan to conduct a heavy bombardment of Iran’s power plants and bridges.
