Gate News Report, March 19 — According to Seth G. Jones, an expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the phase of direct U.S. military strikes against Iran may only last “a few days or weeks,” mainly due to insufficient long-range strike and defensive munitions stockpiles. The expert pointed out that prior to the latest round of strikes, U.S. critical munitions reserves were already under strain, which will force the Donald Trump administration to scale back military operations. However, even if the U.S. gradually pulls back, Israel is expected to continue periodic strikes against Iran, similar to its long-term military strategy in Lebanon targeting armed groups. Jones believes that ending the current phase of conflict could help ease tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and push oil prices down, but the resumption of shipping still depends on subsequent diplomatic negotiations.
