Gate News Report, March 20 — Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince stated at SXSW that with the rapid development of generative AI, AI robot network traffic is expected to surpass human traffic by 2027. He pointed out that AI robots access about 1,000 times more websites when performing tasks—while humans might browse 5 websites while shopping, AI robots could visit up to 5,000. Before the era of generative AI, robot traffic accounted for only 20% of internet traffic, but this proportion is now rapidly increasing. Prince emphasized that addressing this trend requires building new infrastructure, including “sandboxes” for AI agents that can be created and destroyed at any time, and warned that the continuous growth of internet traffic will put enormous pressure on data centers and servers. He characterized AI as another major platform shift following the transition from desktop to mobile.
