Osmosis Update: Cosmos Hub Proposal—Cancel New ATOM Minting and Switch to Market Buybacks

OSMO3,49%
ATOM2,48%

Gate News message, April 6, Cosmos ecosystem DEX Osmosis recently published a tweet announcing that it has updated the Cosmos Hub proposal based on validator and community feedback. The biggest change is that it will no longer add-mint ATOM; the required ATOM will be gradually purchased on the open market via revenue earned through the Osmosis DEX protocol, to be used for OSMO/ATOM conversions. The total acquisition size is still limited to within <2.5% of the total ATOM supply. The proposal is currently in the Cosmos Hub governance discussion stage. Previously, Osmosis had proposed a major plan to migrate the Osmosis DEX natively to Cosmos Hub; if approved by both chains’ governance, it will unify liquidity, governance, and security.
