Big Telegram update: built-in AI text editor, and it can also let bots manage bots

CryptoCity

Telegram rolls out new features such as AI text editing, upgraded polls, and Managed Bots, strengthening privacy computing and cross-platform experiences, and adding a third-party app security alert mechanism.

On March 31, Telegram released a new version, bringing multiple AI-driven feature upgrades. Below is the complete breakdown of this update:

AI Text Editor: rewrite, translate, and fix with two taps

The most talked-about new feature is an AI text editor built into the message input field, supported by Telegram’s own Cocoon AI. When the entered text exceeds 3 lines, an “Ai” icon appears next to the “Send” button. Click it:

  • Fix grammar errors
  • Rewrite in different styles (Formal, Short, Tribal, Corp, Zen, Biblical, Viking)
  • Translate into other languages; you can also apply a specific style during translation

Telegram emphasizes that this feature uses Cocoon’s privacy network for processing, running computations in secure environments with zero access to user data.

More than 10 new poll features

Polls receive a full upgrade, including:

  • Add media or location to questions and options
  • Add a question description field
  • Allow users to propose new options while the poll is ongoing
  • Show who voted next to each option
  • Lock polls (no re-voting allowed) to ensure results stay fixed
  • Randomly order options for each user
  • Set poll time limits
  • Hide results before the time runs out
  • Poll creators can view results without voting

Group and channel profile pages also add dedicated poll tags, making it easier to find ongoing and ended polls.

Full-platform support for Live Photo and Motion Photo

Telegram now natively supports iOS Live Photos and Android Motion Photos, so you can view animated photos normally across all Telegram apps on every platform. Before sending, in the media editor you can choose from three playback modes: Live (play once when enabled), Loop (continue cycling), and Bounce (forward-backward cycling).

Managed Bots: bots can be created and used to manage other bots

The Telegram Bot API adds a Managed Bots feature, allowing bots to create and manage other bots on behalf of users. This means developers can easily deploy their own bots through AI bots without needing to write code. Telegram also provides detailed developer documentation for reference.

iOS Document Scanning + Unofficial App Security Warning

Telegram for iOS adds a document scanning feature that lets you scan documents with the camera, automatically remove the background, crop, and convert them to PDF, supporting merging multiple pages into a single file. Steps: tap the attachments menu → Files → Scan documents.

In addition, Telegram also adds a safety measure: for users of third-party (unofficial) Telegram apps, when others view their profiles, they will see a security warning—an alert indicating that the encryption strength of the warning message may be lower. Telegram’s official apps are open source and provide verifiable build versions.
