South Korean brokerages resume daytime trading services for US stocks after a hiatus of more than a year.

On November 4, Jin10 reported that, according to industry insiders, South Korean brokerage firms reopened their daytime trading service for US stocks on Tuesday after being suspended for over a year due to system issues. Insiders stated that investors can now use the trading systems of 18 brokerage firms in South Korea to trade US stocks from 9 AM to 5 PM local time. The daytime trading of US stocks in the South Korean stock market had been suspended since August 5, 2024. This suspension was triggered after a system failure occurred at the alternative trading platform Blue Ocean, leading to a large number of local investors canceling orders. At that time, Blue Ocean was the only platform representing local brokerages to handle US stock orders.
