Recently, I came across an Ethereum L2 project focused on privacy-preserving computation—Miden. The testnet is already available for interaction.

Its approach is quite unique: based on a zero-knowledge Rollup architecture, it has built its own Miden VM to run transactions. What does this mean? It offloads most of the computations that would typically require validation by the entire network to your local device, while only recording the result on-chain. This both protects privacy and improves efficiency.

This approach stands out as a differentiated path in the current Ethereum L2 scaling competition. They just completed a funding round at the end of April this year, and the testnet is currently open for interaction. If you’re interested in experiencing a privacy-focused Layer 2 early, keep an eye on it.

Privacy Layer2 is indeed quite interesting. I get the logic of local computation with on-chain verification—it does feel differentiated compared to other L2 solutions that keep competing with each other. However, how fast it can actually run in practice remains to be seen. Let’s try out the testnet first and see.

Privacy Layer 2 is indeed the direction, but this kind of local computation verification logic... can it really be trusted? I guess we still have to wait until the mainnet is up and running before drawing conclusions.

Miden's approach is kind of interesting—local computation, on-chain verification... But to be honest, is this privacy logic really reliable? --- Yet another zk solution. Will this one really break through, or is it just another round of cashing out on hype? --- Offloading computation to local devices? What if my local machine gets attacked? Privacy still isn't guaranteed. --- Just raised funds and already pushing people to play with the testnet—this playbook feels familiar... --- Differentiated approach sounds nice, but with Ethereum L2s being so competitive now, what makes Miden think it can stand out? --- Privacy computation sounds good, but isn't it just another spin on zero-knowledge proofs? --- Opening up the testnet is nice, but when will mainnet launch—that's what really matters. --- The local computation + privacy combo is definitely fresh. Kinda want to try it out. --- Why do I feel like this is just another project that Vitalik nods at but nobody actually uses... --- There's a new zero-knowledge rollup every month—what really makes Miden different?
