Odaily Planet Daily News: Canadian citizen Jarett Dunn was sentenced to six years in prison by a London judge for a $2 million Solana scam. He previously admitted to abuse of authority fraud and criminal property transfer. The court stated that the former Pump.fun employee had been electronically tagged and monitored for 308 days, with 154 days counting toward his sentence. He was also held in custody for about five months, which is typically automatically credited to his sentence. The verdict came more than a year after Dunn stole approximately $2 million worth of Solana (SOL) from Pump.fun, a now very popular meme coin platform, where he was employed at the time. Dunn did not keep the money for himself but distributed the funds to thousands of random addresses. He immediately admitted to the crime on social media. As a result, this Canadian gained a group of passionate followers, who called him the “Crypto Robin Hood.” Dunn’s path to sentencing was not smooth, with multiple hearings, delays, and adjournments. This included Dunn attempting to characterize the attack as a whistleblowing act, claiming Pump.fun was a malicious website he tried to warn people about. However, with the verdict delivered, the judge appeared to disapprove of this argument. Pump.fun is a platform that allows anyone to create a crypto token within seconds after filling out a short form. Before the incident, Dunn had been a senior developer at Pump.fun for six weeks. During this period, the platform was popular but still in its early stages. According to Dune data, Pump.fun’s total revenue at that time was $43.9 million, which later skyrocketed to $927.2 million. Dunn’s friend Mark Kelly attended the trial, calling the verdict “disappointing.” Kelly told Decrypt that prosecutors dismissed the whistleblower’s claims as “a post-arrest excuse.” He added that although he thought Dunn’s lawyers were “terrible,” Dunn ultimately made it easy for the prosecution to “get off” by confessing on social media. “Everyone stay calm, this is a robbery… I am about to change the course of history. Then go rot in prison,” Dunn wrote on X platform within minutes of the attack. “Am I rational? No. Am I okay? Very bad.” He then joined an X Spaces session, saying he wanted to “kill” Pump.fun “because it’s something that needs to be done.” He further claimed, “It has hurt people for a long time unintentionally.” Kelly added that the judge “fully considered” this during sentencing. Four days after the attack, Dunn was arrested at a hote
