Fetch.ai's latest move is quite interesting — they've developed what they claim to be the world's first autonomous payment system among AI agents. It sounds a bit sci-fi, but they are actually testing it.
The core concept is this: your personal AI assistant can coordinate plans, book restaurants, and complete payments without you being online. In the demo, two AIs each help their owners arrange dinner, automatically reserve a table on OpenTable, and settle the bill. Both users are completely offline during the entire process.
From a security perspective, this system is quite thoughtful. It supports Visa card payments (using temporary credentials) and also supports on-chain transactions — both USDC and FET are fine. Regarding wallets, each AI has an independent, dedicated wallet with spending limits, so your real card information isn't stored. If you want an extra layer of security, you can enable manual confirmation. Every blockchain transaction is traceable, with transparency clearly in place.
Fetch.ai CEO Humayun Sheikh describes this as a "ticket into the AI-first economy." What does that mean? It means intelligent agents can handle repetitive, time-sensitive tasks on their own, freeing humans to focus on more important things.
The current plan is to officially roll out in early 2026 via the ASI:One platform, after passing Visa integration and other reviews.
From a broader perspective, if this can truly run smoothly, autonomous commerce could become a reality. The integration of AI with the real economy will become increasingly tight, evolving from chat tools into genuine economic participants. This is no small event for the entire Web3 and AI ecosystems.

Whoa, AI transferring money to itself? This is exactly what the future should look like.
