While Bitcoin ETFs are rapidly attracting hundreds of billions of dollars, the altcoin market is quietly shrinking. As an observer who has been in the crypto space for many years, I have seen the frenzy of the altcoin seasons in 2017 and 2021—whenever Bitcoin rises, hot money immediately flows into various altcoins, and the entire market goes crazy. But now, everything has changed.

In the past six months, Bitcoin's market share has surged to 64%, a new high since January 2021. Meanwhile, the altcoin market has evaporated over $300 billion. Behind this divergence actually reflects fundamental differences among market participants.

Institutions and retail investors have become two completely different species. Institutional investors are heavily entering through compliant channels like Bitcoin spot ETFs, viewing Bitcoin as digital gold for allocation, and as a long-term store of value. According to data, institutions allocate 67% of their crypto holdings to mainstream assets, while retail investors only allocate 37%—a 30 percentage point difference, a new high in history.

What are retail investors still doing? They are still dreaming of finding the "next Bitcoin," chasing Meme coins, speculating on high-risk altcoins, and trying to replicate the wealth explosion stories of the past. But in the current market environment, this approach is becoming increasingly dangerous.

Why is the altcoin season so delayed? Traditional theory says that when Bitcoin rises, excess funds will naturally flow into altcoins. But this time, it’s different; market rules have been rewritten. Bitcoin’s siphon effect is stronger than ever before.

Speaking of which, our group of retail investors really needs to wake up. Are we still hoping for a turnaround? Altcoins have evaporated 300 billion, institutions hold 67% in BTC, and we only have 37%—the gap is obvious. I made money during that wave in 2021, but the gameplay has really changed now. When institutions come in, the rules change. Bitcoin is digital gold. What are we still dreaming about, "the next Bitcoin"? That's too naive. The siphon effect is so strong, retail investors still dare to go all-in on altcoins? That's just asking for death. This wave of ETFs has truly changed the game. The old routines of altcoin seasons are now completely ineffective. Once compliant channels open up, institutional entry is a game-changer. We retail investors can only watch from the sidelines. The BTC dominance has hit a new high of 64%. It seems the landscape of the crypto world really needs to be re-evaluated.

Altcoins are really cooling off. People still trading this stuff are truly gambling addicts. Institutions are siphoning off profits while retail investors suffer heavy losses. This is the current ecosystem of the crypto world, right? Still hoping to find the next 100x coin? Dream on. It's time to wake up. With 64% of Bitcoin's market share, I knew from the moment I saw this data that altcoins had no future. The so-called altseason is dead; we are all witnessing new rules. Where did the 300 billion go... just evaporated like that? Retail investors vs. institutions—it's like competing on completely different levels. Regulatory shackles are in place; even if you want to trade coins, you have to obediently allocate to mainstream assets. Does anyone still believe in the return of altcoin season? I don't anymore. Bitcoin's siphoning is so fierce that small-cap coins really have no way out.

Still waiting for the clone season in my dreams, but when I wake up, all my coins are gone. This time is truly different.
