NIGHT is not an ordinary airdrop; it represents a new direction for on-chain privacy.
Recently, I conducted an in-depth study of Midnight Network and its native token NIGHT, combining the latest content from the official website to share my insights and analysis. $NIGHT
What is Midnight and NIGHT? Midnight Network is a fourth-generation blockchain with the core goal of achieving so-called "Rational Privacy," which protects user data security while maintaining on-chain verifiability without forcing sacrifices in auditability.
NIGHT is Midnight's native token. It is not used for paying transaction fees but is a fundamental asset for generating network resources (called DUST). This means that simply holding NIGHT allows you to automatically obtain fuel for executing transactions and smart contracts.
DUST is a renewable, non-transferable resource used for network operations, while NIGHT itself is transferable, tradable, and serves as a governance rights carrier.
Highlights of NIGHT distribution and ecosystem Midnight employs an innovative Glacier Drop multi-stage airdrop mechanism to distribute NIGHT, with a total supply of 24 billion. The scale of this airdrop coverage is also very large in Web3 history.
Distribution stages include: 1. Glacier Drop main airdrop (targeting multi-chain wallet addresses) 2. Scavenger Mine (public participation) 3. Lost-and-Found (subsequent claim phase)
The latest phase has completed a large amount of claim and unfreezing preparations, with a release plan adopting a thawing mechanism lasting approximately 360 days to avoid concentrated sell pressure.
The significance from a Web3 perspective Privacy is not about obscuring transactions but about controlling the level of information disclosure. Midnight is designed to allow developers to selectively disclose information rather than exposing all data completely. Generating DUST enables applications to use the chain almost "for free," which is developer-friendly and helps ecosystem growth. NIGHT does not directly consume tokens; it is used for governance and resource generation, which is different from many conventional fee token models.
My overall view NIGHT's design is not just a simple airdrop for quick profit but a significant step forward in privacy chains and governance ecosystems. It builds a new resource layer (NIGHT + DUST economic model), giving developers and users the opportunity to experience different cost structures for blockchain usage.
While short-term market performance is worth watching, from a long-term technical path and application scalability perspective, this type of network is worth serious follow-up and research.
I will continue to observe NIGHT's unfreezing dynamics, governance feature activation, and on-chain application growth.
