In the past few days, observing the performance of gold prices, after a surge in the early session, it got stuck in repeated fluctuations. Last night I placed a short order, and then I didn't chase in again, but during the day I managed to make two high short trades, cutting a 10-point range.

As the Christmas holiday approaches, the probability of gold consolidating at high levels is quite large. This time window at the end of the year is special; historically, unexpected situations can occasionally arise, so we need to stay alert—last year's strategy may not work this year.

The key question is here: how will things proceed in the future? Can we chase the highs? Every participant should think clearly about this. If you are the type that operates on very short-term trades, bouncing back and forth between points, then you can try to chase. But for medium to long-term positions? Absolutely not. The force of future declines may set new records, so the trading logic needs to be adjusted—buy when expectations are strong, and when it becomes a reality, it's time to act.

Currently there is a short order near 4490, targeting 4420.

It has proven that the end-of-year wave is indeed prone to failure; last year's tactics are no longer effective this year. The most testing time for patience is during sideways consolidation, when impulsively chasing in results in being cut. You still need to strictly follow the logic—build when there is an expectation, exit when it materializes, and don't be greedy.

The end-of-year market movement is indeed strange; sideways trading is exhausting... Chasing highs depends on the cycle; short-term trading can be risky, but long-term should be more cautious. That 4420 level is a bit precarious; let's see if it can hold in the upcoming sessions. I wish I hadn't chased it; wasted on transaction fees... The black swan events during this time window are the most annoying; you might wake up to a completely different market.

A drop of 10 points and still hesitating... It's really hard to predict this market before Christmas, feels like there are too many variables at the end of the year. Better to avoid chasing the price, if you’re scared, just wait for the fall. Short from 4490 to 4420, consider this price difference as buying peace of mind. Last year's trap is indeed outdated, every year comes with new tricks.

At the end of the year, one really has to be cautious; last year's approach completely failed, and I need to change my mindset for trading. Cutting 10 points is also a tuition fee; a Sideways market really tests human nature. Do you still dare to Build a Position for the medium to long term? Man, you are gambling with your life. The target of 4420 is quite clear; I hope your short order can land. Christmas Eve often brings surprises; history has always played out like this. When expectations are strong, enter and run when it lands; I agree with this logic, but executing it is really difficult. Short-term trading is fine, but if you're looking to buy the dip? Now is not the time.

The bizarre market at the end of the year really needs to be cautious; last year's strategy doesn't work well this year. Sideways movement is the most annoying. For short-term trading, you can still catch a couple of waves, but it's better to forget about building a position for medium to long term at this time. The 4420 level is interesting, but don't be too optimistic.
