Trump Media transferred 2000 bitcoins after announcing a merger with another company

Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), owned by the family of U.S. President Donald Trump, transferred 2000 bitcoins worth approximately $174 million to a new address, according to analysts from Arkham. The first cryptocurrency transfer from Trump Media's corporate wallet occurred on December 23. Previously, several test transactions were sent to the future recipient address of TMTG. The exact purpose of moving the bitcoins remains unclear, and the company itself has not reported on the operations. The large transaction coincided with the announcement of the merger between Trump Media and TAE Technologies in the form of a stock swap valued at over $6 billion. This suggests that the cryptocurrency could be used as collateral. Participants in the merger described plans for the combined company's investments in nuclear energy and AI infrastructure. On the day before the large transaction, Trump Media purchased 451 bitcoins, bringing its reserves to 11,542 bitcoins (more than $1 billion). Currently, Trump's company ranks 11th among the largest corporate holders of bitcoin worldwide. Previously, Trump Media CEO Devin Nunes (Devin Nunes) stated that the company considers bitcoins as an asset that can help avoid pressure from banking conglomerates, "capable of restricting access to payment infrastructure for political reasons."
