Newcomers to the crypto world don't know how to set up their portfolio? Actually, keep it simple and straightforward. The core is these three: Bitcoin as the foundation, Ethereum for support, and a few other mainstream coins for diversification.
Why do it this way? Bitcoin has the strongest liquidity and is the market's indicator; Ethereum's ecosystem is the most complete with the richest applications; for the remaining assets, adjust according to your risk appetite.
The most common mistake among beginners is wanting to buy every coin, only to get wiped out. It's better to master these three categories first, understand the market rhythm, and then consider diversification. In the crypto world, steady and solid progress can help you survive longer.

Oh my god, someone finally said it... Buying everything just results in losing everything.
The only reason I’ve made it this far is because of these three things.
Really, last time I saw a newbie buy over twenty different coins all at once, I couldn’t stop laughing.

It sounds good, but the problem is that most people never get the chance to "fully understand" before they've already been washed out.

It sounds like you're teaching beginners, but honestly, this is the same old trick—I was doing this six years ago, back when Ethereum was only a few dozen dollars.

To be honest, I would have done this setup a long time ago, but beginners often don't listen and insist on going all in on those small coins to try their luck.

Although, the data shows that waiting a bit longer for the historical lows would be more rewarding; those entering now are just bagholders.

I've been doing this for a while, just waiting for BTC to drop a bit more to get in.

btc liquidity argument checks out, but tbh the "three bucket" framing is just survivorship bias dressed up nice. plenty of people stuck to the basics and still got rekt when network topology shifted
