In the early session, gold experienced a rise followed by a pullback. During the Asian trading hours, the price briefly touched the 4500 level but failed to stabilize due to increasing bullish and bearish disagreements. After quickly retreating to around 4444, it rebounded supported by buying interest below, and is currently consolidating around 4460.

From a 1-hour technical perspective, the selling pressure above 4500 led to short-term profit-taking and a sharp decline. However, the downward move did not develop into a sustained trend. The rebound after the pullback confirms that the support below is effective. The market essentially is a shakeout and consolidation within a strong trend, and the overall structure remains intact.

Today’s market focus is on the US December ADP employment data (non-farm payrolls), which will directly influence the dollar’s movement and Federal Reserve policy expectations:

- If the data falls short of expectations, the increasing expectation of rate cuts will suppress the dollar, and gold is likely to return to the 4500 level, possibly pushing toward the 4515-4520 range;
- If the data exceeds expectations, a short-term strengthening of the dollar may put pressure on gold. Attention should be paid to the 4440 support level. However, based on the early recovery performance, there is sufficient support below, and downside space is limited.
