The truth about Coinbase CEO's 0 buy 88 sell: executive divestment and market signals

Abstract generation in progress

【Blockchain Rhythm】An interesting contrast has emerged. A CEO of a major exchange once posted that it feels great to buy their own stock on their platform—although due to restrictions, he can only operate through a 10b5-1 plan. It sounded like a hint of confidence in their platform and stock.

But after community researchers dug up the trading disclosure data, the story changed.

According to the public records of the 10b5-1 plan, this CEO’s trading record shows: 0 buys, 88 sells. No increases in holdings, only complete liquidation. Moreover, this reduction wasn’t concentrated at a specific time but spanned from 2024 to 2025. Specifically, in quarterly terms: approximately $437 million was sold in Q4 2024; in Q2 and Q3 2025, about $196 million and $268 million were sold respectively. Nearly every quarter involved planned sales.

Of course, trading through a 10b5-1 plan itself is not an issue; it’s a common compliant practice. The concern is the combination of “zero buys coupled with continuous high-frequency selling,” which has sparked discussions in the community: How confident is management really in their own platform? Are incentives and decisions truly aligned?

Coincidentally, when this topic gained attention, the exchange’s stock price had already fallen 45% over the past half-year. Numbers speak for themselves.

Buy 0, sell 88, this face really takes the cake. Saying they are optimistic while liquidating and fleeing—classic "I don't believe you." --- 0 buy, 88 sell—just looking at these numbers is outrageous. Where's the confidence they claimed? --- Laugh out loud, one thing says one thing and does another—that's the true portrait of executives, isn't it? --- Year-round liquidation, truly confident in the platform, haha. --- Not even speaking properly, insisting on bullish talk while dumping the market—this routine is all too familiar. --- 0 buys, 88 sells—this trading ledger is so authentic. --- Say you love me with your mouth, but your wallet is saying goodbye—classic executive rhetoric. --- Quarterly liquidation, such a detailed plan—really thinking about shareholders (sarcastic). --- Talking but not acting is the lowest. This CEO demonstrates what honest action looks like.

Buy at 0, sell at 88, what a face! Say it's good, but then crazy cashing out, typical empty slogans. Inconsistent words and actions are a bit frustrating, so we're just retail investors getting the bag. Quarterly dumping, do they really think we're all fools? Compared to the comments he posted, this move is really a slap in the face. Can't help but wonder, how many executives are playing like this?

Hey, buy 0, sell 88, this move is really clever haha What sounds good is being optimistic, but in reality, clearing out positions, actions and words are completely opposite It's the same old trick, saying one thing and doing another Quarterly sales approaching hundreds of millions, this really can indicate some issues

Buy 0, sell 88, this kind of attitude is really incredible haha --- Claiming to be optimistic, but holding all short positions, a classic tactic to cut the leeks --- Selling every quarter, are you serious? I think he's just cashing out seriously --- Buy 0, sell 88, this data explains everything... luckily I didn't believe his nonsense --- Planning to sell off over four quarters, I’ve truly seen this guy’s "confidence" in his own stock --- Ridiculous, saying one thing but acting another, is this what executives do? --- Sell 88 times, buy 0 times, this story has completely reversed --- Holding investors' money while claiming to be optimistic and secretly clearing positions, this move is really...

Buy at 0, sell at 88, say one thing but actually clear out, this contrast is hilarious haha Promising to support your own platform, but every quarter you're selling? I think you're just confident in your own wallet Never buy once, always selling; do I need to translate this signal for you? Honestly, just take what crypto executives say as a joke to listen to 437 million in one quarter, with this scale, I don't believe he doesn't know about stock price movements
