From Single Legs to Strangles: 8 Proven RFQ Options Strategies

Looking to diversify your options trading approach? The range of structures available through RFQ (Request for Quote) trading goes far beyond basic single-leg strategies.

Whether you're just starting with straightforward call or put positions, or ready to explore more sophisticated spreads like strangles, straddles, and iron condors—each structure offers distinct risk-reward profiles suited to different market conditions.

Here are eight effective ways to structure your RFQ options trades:

1. **Single Calls & Puts** - The foundation for bullish or bearish positions
2. **Call & Put Spreads** - Defined risk with premium optimization
3. **Strangles** - Long volatility plays when you expect big moves
4. **Straddles** - Neutral positions betting on direction-agnostic volatility
5. **Iron Condors** - High probability trades in sideways markets
6. **Covered Calls** - Income generation on spot holdings
7. **Collar Strategies** - Downside protection with upside flexibility
8. **Calendar Spreads** - Profiting from time decay mechanics

Each structure demands different Greeks management and risk considerations. Mastering RFQ execution lets you fine-tune premiums and find optimal entries that traditional market orders simply can't achieve. Ready to elevate your options game?

Iron condor sounds good, but how many can truly make stable profits... Most people end up losing in the Greeks management in the end.

Iron Condor is truly a walking printing machine, just afraid that the market suddenly acts up...

Iron condor sounds good, but actually making money still depends on timing and understanding the Greeks; otherwise, you're just getting eaten by theta...

It seems like another lesson on how to play options, but how many people can actually make money? Iron Condor sounds advanced, but if the direction is wrong, you can get liquidated immediately. This article didn't mention the risks.

ngl, iron condors are just poor man's governance attacks on your own portfolio... same risk concentration, different flavor. but sure, keep playing checkers with greeks while the real money's in spotting which rfq venues have the worst execution incentives. that's where the actual alpha lives, not in some textbook strangle setup.

Iron condor sounds simple, but in reality, the Greeks' strategies can really wear you out... Just looking at these 8 types, there's nothing really new.
