Preparing for the New Year trip to Egypt, I thought about directly spending the USD on my HSBC card. I mindlessly booked hotels for a few days of the trip, then compared hotel and flight prices on Booking and Ctrip, and I realized that spending still has to be done domestically. Domestic apps for food, drinks, accommodation, and transportation are incredibly cheap—ordering from abroad is a huge loss.
