Mars Finance reports that Vitalik commented on “ENS stopping L2 Namechain development, with v2 being directly deployed on the Ethereum mainnet” saying: “This is a wise decision. ENS domains and records are core state of the Ethereum ecosystem. I believe the best architecture for decentralized identity and social (which I think ENS falls into) is to store this user account and profile data on L1, and use dedicated L2s (which may be much simpler than a full EVM) to handle user operations (such as actions on social platforms).”
