People who are easily afraid that "this life is ruined" just need to keep believing in their elders and those around them. Basically, they've already ruined their lives long ago—trapped in the prison built by the limited worldview of their native environment.
From a young age, they are told: failing to get into college means ruin, not finding a good job means ruin, not finding a wealthy partner means ruin. There are also a bunch of negative examples: not dating by age 30 means no one wants you, working for the government means ruin, failing a college exam means ruin, divorce with a child means ruin. Constantly judging others with shallow understanding, they fail to see what’s truly good in people, and keep criticizing these negative examples, saying how miserable others are, to scare you into studying, finding a job, passing civil service exams, or dating. They shrink the vast, open world into just a few narrow bridges or tunnels, forcing you to compete. If you succeed in one level, your family desperately pushes you forward; if you can't, they call you useless and say you’re finished and ruined. These people who influence and educate you have no idea that in a changing world, missing a certain social clock or social filter isn’t a big deal. You can still find opportunities within institutional changes, accumulating in fields they have no concept of, waiting for an explosion. You believe in these mediocres’ guidance, viewing the narrow bridges and tunnels in their worldview as the only way in life. Maybe you get caught up in it, only to realize you’re just a tool doing repetitive work, capable of nothing but exchanging your life for money. You no longer know what you truly like—whether it’s past hobbies or innate talents—everything has been lost in the climbing process. All that’s left are entertainment and desires with no barriers, and a habitual performance of some nonexistent respectable persona. You weren’t like this originally. You could feel the vastness of the world, knew there were many interesting things, and could discover and appreciate various details worth studying. You were human. There’s a lot of tolerance, but you’ve been deceived—you’ve lost all tolerance. As long as you continue to believe in the teachings of your native environment, you won’t be ruined anymore. No one can ruin what has already been ruined. And one day, these people will still comfort you: "Everyone is like this, just get by." Just get by, and a lifetime will pass.
