The only ally of Iran is its people, said the country's ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, in an interview with RBC.

"Since 1979, after the Islamic Revolution, we understood that we must rely on our own strength and capabilities and on our citizens. You have seen that over the past 48 years, they [the US] have carried out various conspiracy scenarios against us. But it is precisely with the help of our citizens and our people that we have been able to break all their plans," the diplomat said.

Talking about the armed conflict with the US, Jalali pointed out that Iran is fighting with "the world's number one army." "We stand and will endure," said the ambassador. At the same time, Jalali said that Tehran is counting on its friends.

Answering the question of how Russia is helping Iran, the ambassador said: "In fact, Russia has so far taken the best positions regarding these events. Our leaders at the highest level maintain constant contact with each other. Our leaders regularly have phone conversations, as well as passing messages through the Iranian embassy in Moscow and through the Russian embassy in Tehran."
