💸The Most Indebted Countries in the World



According to the Global Debt Monitor data for Q4 2025, several major economies have a total debt exceeding 300% of GDP. This includes the combined liabilities of the government, corporations, and households.

Leading countries by debt:

🇭🇰 Hong Kong — 380%
🇯🇵 Japan — 372%
🇸🇬 Singapore — 347%
🇫🇷 France — 326%
🇨🇦 Canada — 315%

In Hong Kong, the main debt is formed in the corporate sector (227% of GDP), mainly due to the real estate market.

For Japan, it is characteristic that the main burden falls on government debt, which has approached 200% of GDP after years of economic stimulus and weak growth.

🔴In developed economies, active debt accumulation continues due to crisis situations in recent years, including pandemic stimuli and increased expenses.
