Instead of fear-mongering, we should be focused on empowering people to actually use these AI tools—to create, learn, build, and participate. The real opportunity here is not something to be afraid of, but something to be distributed as widely as possible.
We’ve already seen this pattern before. Many on the left largely dismissed Bitcoin early on, framing it mainly through risk, speculation, or ideological bias, and in doing so overlooked its potential as a bottom-up wealth creation and redistribution mechanism—one that didn’t require permission or institutional gatekeepers.
Now we’re at a similar inflection point with AI. These tools dramatically lower the barrier to entry for productivity, creativity, and entrepreneurship. Anyone can now access capabilities that were previously reserved for large organizations or highly specialized experts. Ignoring that—or worse, focusing only on its dangers—risks repeating the same mistake.
The real conversation should be about access, education, and agency.
