Anthropic has turned Claude into an AI agent

Anthropic has transformed Claude into an AI agent — the bot now has the ability to use a computer to perform tasks.

You can now enable Claude to use your computer to complete tasks.

It opens your apps, navigates your browser, fills in spreadsheets—anything you’d do sitting at your desk.

Users can give instructions to the digital assistant even from their phone. It can open applications on the computer, control the browser, and fill out spreadsheets.

In one example, a user was late for a meeting. They asked Claude to export the presentation as a PDF and attach it to the invitation. The chat bot handled the task.

“Prompt from your phone, do something else, then come back to your finished work on the computer. Just ask Claude once to check your email every morning or generate a report on Fridays — it will take care of the rest,” says Anthropic’s website.

The company warned that using the computer “is still in early stages compared to Claude’s capabilities in programming or working with text.”

“The chat bot can make mistakes. While we continue to improve safety measures, threats are constantly evolving,” said startup representatives.

According to Anthropic, the computer interaction feature is implemented “with risk minimization.” Claude always requests permission before accessing new applications.

Before performing a task, Claude shows a plan and waits for approval. At any stage, you can clarify the task or choose a different approach.

Recall that in March, Claude from Anthropic ranked first among free apps in the US App Store, surpassing ChatGPT from OpenAI to second place.
