#Web3SecurityGuide | Protecting Your Assets in Web3: What You Must Know
"You weren't hacked. You opened the door yourself."
Most lost crypto assets trace back to user mistakes, not technical exploits. Here's what to watch for — and how to stay safe.
———
Threats You're Facing in 2026
Phishing & Deepfakes
Fake support teams, AI-powered video calls, counterfeit Discord bots. If someone claiming to be a project team member asks you to "connect your wallet" — that face might not be real.
Address Poisoning
An attacker sends a tiny transaction from an address that looks almost identical to yours. When you copy from your transaction history, you send funds to the wrong place. Always verify the full address, not just the first and last few characters.
Clipboard Hijacking
Malware silently swaps the address you copied with the attacker's. What you paste is not what you copied. Always double-check before confirming.
Fake Airdrops
"Connect your wallet, earn 500 USDT." Stop whenever you see this. Legitimate projects do not distribute money just for connecting a wallet.

Core Defense Rules
Seed Phrase
Not a single digital copy should exist. Cloud storage, email drafts, screenshots — all are compromised. Write it on paper, store it physically in a secure location, share it with no one. Ever.
Cold Wallet
Keep 80–90% of your holdings in a hardware wallet with no internet connection. Assets that don't need to move should never be online.
Transaction Verification
Before every transaction: verify the full recipient address, confirm the exact amount, type the URL manually instead of clicking links.
Exchange Security
Use an Authenticator app instead of SMS. Enable withdrawal whitelist. Set an anti-phishing code — if you don't see it in an email claiming to be from the exchange, don't trust it.
———
The Golden Rule
There are no refunds in crypto. Before every action, ask yourself:
"Who is asking for this and why?"
"If I lose this, can I get it back?"
Think first. Sign second.
