Yesterday I watched the episode of MasterChef Celebrity and it was intense, brother. The eight remaining contestants had to cook octopus, and honestly, some nailed it while others... well, not so much. The best was Marixa with her fried octopus breaded in semolina, even Martitegui said he was stealing her recipe. Amazing.

But what impacted me the most was the criollo round, let's say. Cachete Sierra and Evangelina Anderson were the ones eliminated, just one step away from the semifinals. You could see the tears, especially in Cachete, who was really hurt. Evangelina also got pretty emotional, but he was the one it hit the hardest. Both gave very sincere goodbyes.

The criollo round left Maxi López, Turco Husaín, Reini Gonet, Ian Lucas, Emilia Attias, and Marixa Balli in the competition. Some dishes were on another level, like Reini’s black risotto with caviar, although the judges had some critiques. The interesting part is that it wasn’t always the most beautiful dish that advanced, but the one with the best technique. That’s what I think sets the show apart. Did you see the episode?
