Golden Finance reports that on April 4, an insider told CNBC that the U.S. Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing on April 16 to review Kevin Wush’s nomination to serve as Chair of the Federal Reserve. Meanwhile, another criminal investigation into the Federal Reserve is still ongoing, and it is examining whether the current chair, Powell, made false statements to Congress regarding the expensive renovation of Federal Reserve office buildings. At the same time, Wush’s nomination process is still moving forward, which could put the two parallel tracks pushed by the Trump administration at odds. Banking Committee member Thom Tillis has already said he will not vote to confirm Wush before the investigation is completed, meaning Trump cannot advance both processes at the same time. But by continuing to push the hearing forward, Trump is evidently still trying to achieve that goal. The Senate Banking Committee has not yet placed the hearing on the public agenda.
