Pancake officially releases a new proposal to adjust the maximum supply of CAKE from 450 million to 400 million.
On January 13, according to official news, the Pancake official team released a new proposal suggesting to adjust the maximum supply of CAKE from 450 million to 400 million. The official stated that they believe the reduced token quantity is sufficient to support all future development needs of the protocol. Although the current circulating supply (approximately 350 million) still has a buffer of about 50 million compared to the new maximum supply (400 million), it is expected that this reserve will not need to be used. In case of special circumstances, the team may still activate this buffer mechanism. It is important to note that Pancake’s ecosystem development fund continues to grow steadily, currently accumulating about 3.5 million CAKE tokens. Before considering any new emissions, these reserves will be prioritized for protocol development needs. Therefore, it is almost impossible for the protocol to revert to an inflationary state.
