Australian Beef Imports Hit 80% of China's Annual Quota on May 15; 55% Tariff to Take Effect at 100%

According to China's Ministry of Commerce Safeguard Measures announcement, Australian beef imports under the safeguard measure reached 80% of the designated annual quota on May 15, 2026. When imports reach 100% of the set quota, a 55% additional tariff will be imposed on top of the current applicable tariff rate, effective from the third day (inclusive) following the 100% threshold.
