China's Kimi K3 Ranks First in Code Arena; Sacks Warns U.S. Over-Regulation Weakens AI Competitiveness

According to Yonhapinfomax, David Sacks, co-chair of the U.S. White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, warned on July 17 that excessive regulation is eroding American AI industry competitiveness. Sacks, former White House AI and crypto czar, cited that China's Kimi K3 model reached first place in the ProtenedCode Arena benchmark for the first time, while matching or approaching frontier performance levels in other benchmarks. He stated that U.S. regulators are blocking new data center construction, adding state-level restrictions, and proposing new federal agencies to pre-approve advanced AI models, causing the nation to undermine its own competitive position.
