According to Al Jazeera citing Iraqi police sources, at least four Iranian drones attacked Erbil's northeastern region and the Khor Mor gas field in Iraq's Kurdistan province early on July 28. The Khor Mor field, containing an estimated 8.2 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserves, is Iraq's largest non-associated gas field.

In response, more than 10 U.S. warplanes and drones were deployed over Erbil. The attacks occurred nearly simultaneously across the two locations, approximately 200 kilometers apart, according to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB.
