Microsoft Commits $2.5 Billion to New AI Implementation Unit with 6,000 Employees

According to CNBC on Thursday, Microsoft committed $2.5 billion to establish Microsoft Frontier Co., a new unit focused on assisting clients with artificial intelligence implementations. The company will deploy 6,000 employees in a forward-deployed engineering model, embedding them with clients to provide technical support and guidance. Rodrigo Kede Lima, who led Microsoft's Asia business, will serve as the division's president. The announcement comes as competitors including Amazon, Anthropic, and OpenAI have similarly launched AI implementation initiatives to help businesses adopt emerging artificial intelligence technologies.
