🚨 BREAKING: US Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP) Release - September 5, 2025
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today at 8:30 AM EDT that the US economy added only 22,000 jobs in August 2025, well below the consensus forecast of 75,000. The unemployment rate remained steady at 4.3%. Key highlights:
Sector Breakdown:
Health care led job gains, while federal government and mining/oil/gas sectors saw declines.
Revisions:
June's NFP was revised down from +14,000 to -13,000; July revised up from +73,000 to +79,000, netting a 21,000 lower job count than previously reported.
Market Reaction:
The disappointing NFP figure weakened the US Dollar, pushing EUR/USD above 1.17 and gold prices to a record $3,590/oz.
This weak report may increase expectations for Federal Reserve rate cuts at the September 17 meeting. Next NFP release: October 3, 2025, at 8:30 AM EDT
