US and China Electricity Production
If the US wants to stay in the game, it needs to increase its electricity production. And it will. But will this be enough?
The world needs more power:
Global power demand is set to surge +30% by 2035.
Data centers' contribution to total demand is estimated to increase from 1.5% to 3.5%.
Meanwhile, renewables will supply 55% of total electricity over the next decade, up from 34% this year, with solar leading the expansion.
Interestingly, the US and China currently reflect ~50% of global power use.
India is expected to see the fastest growth, with its power consumption projected to more than double by 2035.
The world is entering a historic energy transition.
#Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang issued a stern warning at the Financial Times' Future of Artificial Intelligence Summit that China will win the #AI race.
Huang argued that China could surpass the US thanks to its low energy costs and less restrictive regulations. He noted, in particular, that China's energy subsidies to tech giants offset the high cost disadvantages of domestic chipmakers Huawei and Cambridge.
He emphasized the advantage of Chinese competitors by saying, "Electricity is free."
