What is the root cause of suffering? This is a very difficult piece of common sense to understand. The hardest thing to see in life is not external objects, but oneself. So how can we see ourselves? Only when we bump into something and bounce back can we feel ourselves through feedback, and only then can we see ourselves. Therefore, the best way to see oneself is to treat others as mirrors to reflect our inner selves. Using others as mirrors helps us understand our gains and losses. All the greed, anger, ignorance, arrogance, and doubt we see are projections of our inner mind. Our rejection and dislike are due to deficiencies somewhere inside. When we see others suffering, it often causes us pain because we empathize and have experienced similar pain ourselves. When we see something manifesting, we should immediately be aware of ourselves: why do I have this feeling? What is missing inside me? Similarly, when others look at me, they are empathizing too. If someone likes you, it means you reflect their inner goodness. This has nothing to do with you; just be polite and stay calm, be yourself. If someone dislikes you, it’s because you project their inner rejection and fear. This also has nothing to do with you. You don’t need to care; just focus on being yourself. That is already enough.
