Mercado Bitcoin announces acquisition of Banco Mercantil's CCTVM license
Source: PortaldoBitcoin Original Title: Mercado Bitcoin announces acquisition of Banco Mercantil’s brokerage Original Link: Mercado Bitcoin has just announced the acquisition of the Foreign Exchange, Securities, and Commodities Brokerage license (CCTVM) from Banco Mercantil do Brasil, as part of a strategy to strengthen its expansion in the regulated digital assets market.
In a statement, MB states that the new acquisition will enable a more robust presence in the digital financial market, reinforcing the platform’s pioneering status in the segment, which already includes other regulated companies in its ecosystem, such as its payment institution, securities administrator, and participatory investment platform with securitization.
“This acquisition represents another step in building a comprehensive investment ecosystem, with new opportunities for our clients, marking another milestone in our journey and strengthening the integration between the traditional market and the digital economy,” comments Roberto Dagnoni, Chairman of Mercado Bitcoin.
“The integration of an operational CCTVM into our operation, which has been active for 13 years and is already among the top 20 crypto brokerages worldwide, according to Kaiko, and among the top five globally in tokenized assets, according to rwa.xyz, reinforces our pioneering status in the market,” concludes the executive.
According to MB, they will not operate as a stock brokerage, something that the license could potentially allow. The offering of brokerage services on the stock exchange (B3), including trading and custody of stocks, will be discontinued at the acquired brokerage after the process is completed.
Current clients of Banco Mercantil will be notified and will need to transfer their positions to other authorized brokerages.
Finally, MB states that this move reflects the company’s strategy to offer secure and innovative solutions, aligned with the growing regulation in Brazil, providing an increasingly comprehensive investment offering for its clients.
