Etihad Rail’s freight services have ensured the uninterrupted movement of goods throughout the country during a time when the supply chain has struggled in the region due to ongoing conflict.
Over the past nine days, Etihad Rail Freight, a subsidiary of Etihad Rail, has operated more than 100 freight train trips, transporting over 459,000 tonnes of cargo and 7,900 containers across the UAE’s national railway network.

The network continues to provide reliable connectivity between key industrial zones, ports, and logistics hubs, supporting the resilience of national supply chains.
To strengthen network resilience, additional rail corridors have been activated. Intermodal capacity has been redeployed to East Coast ports and Al Ghail Dry Port Rail Terminal, supported by five extra train services.
Last week, Etihad Rail also operated three passenger train services“on an exceptional basis” to facilitate the return of UAE citizens and residents from Ghuweifat Station in Al Dhafrah Region to Al Faya Station in Abu Dhabi City.
Meeting safety protocols
According to a statement from Etihad Rail on Wednesday, the network’s operations remain fully aligned with safety and operational protocols. The company continues to coordinate closely with relevant authorities and monitor regional developments.
Since launching commercial freight operations, the national railway has become a key part of the UAE’s logistics infrastructure. It offers businesses a dependable, safe, and sustainable mode of transport that improves supply chain efficiency and resilience.
“Today, Etihad Rail Freight continues to play an important role in keeping goods moving across the UAE, ensuring businesses can rely on safe, efficient and dependable transport connectivity,” said Omar.“Our teams remain fully mobilised and closely aligned with national authorities to ensure the continuity of freight services that support the UAE’s economy.”
Etihad Rail Freight continues to work closely with customers and partners across the logistics sector to ensure service continuity and will provide operational updates as required.
Last year, the network completed the solarisation of its first freight terminal- a move that the company said could pave the way for future terminals.
