Strait of Hormuz, breaking news! Multiple cargo ships and container vessels attacked! Iran warns: Will retaliate against US and Israeli bank targets
Multiple ships attacked.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) stated on the 11th that a cargo ship was hit by an unidentified projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, and the vessel caught fire.
The UKMTO issued a statement saying the incident occurred 11 nautical miles north of Oman (about 20 kilometers). It is reported that the ship has requested assistance, and the crew is evacuating. The extent of damage and casualties are not yet known.
Later that day, the UKMTO reported that a cargo ship was hit by an unidentified projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, marking the second such incident reported within about two hours.
The UKMTO stated the incident happened 50 nautical miles northwest of Dubai, UAE, with no casualties reported so far.
Earlier, the UKMTO said on the 11th that a container ship was damaged in an attack near UAE waters, but all crew members are safe.
The UKMTO also reported that the ship was attacked by a suspected but unidentified projectile approximately 25 nautical miles northwest of Ras Hamra, UAE (about 46 kilometers). The damage status is unclear, and an investigation is ongoing.
The Strait of Hormuz, connecting the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, is a strategic global chokepoint. Since the U.S. and Israel launched a military strike on Iran on February 28, the passage through this strait has attracted international attention.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations is a maritime security coordination center supported by the UK Navy. Its main responsibilities include reporting on maritime conditions in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, and Persian Gulf to support commercial vessels and assist in ensuring the safety of seafarers.
Additionally, there are reports that a Japanese container ship docked in the Persian Gulf was damaged. No casualties or impact on navigation have been reported.
Furthermore, on the 11th, the Chief of the Royal Thai Navy stated that the navy received reports that a Thai-flagged cargo ship was attacked from the rear by gunfire while passing through the Strait of Hormuz, causing serious damage to the cargo hold.
The crew has now evacuated urgently and requested assistance from local maritime safety authorities. The identity of the attacker remains unknown.

Iran Warns of Retaliation Against U.S. and Israeli Economic Targets
On the 11th, the spokesperson for Iran’s Hatham Anbia Central Command issued a statement warning that Iran may retaliate against U.S. and Israeli economic targets in the region, and advised the public to stay away from banks and other potential targets.
The spokesperson said in a statement that on the 10th, U.S. and Israeli forces targeted a bank facility inside Iran. The statement pointed out that when military objectives failed to achieve their intended goals, the U.S. and Israel turned to attacking Iran’s economic infrastructure.
The statement described this action as “illegal and unusual in wartime,” and said it has “opened the door for Iran to strike U.S. and Israeli economic targets in the region.” It warned that the U.S. should be prepared for a “painful response.”
The statement also urged regional civilians to avoid staying within one kilometer of banks to ensure safety.
Hatham Anbia Central Command is subordinate to Iran’s General Staff of the Armed Forces and is responsible for joint military operations.
