Deep Tide TechFlow News, March 12 — According to Jinshi Data, the Trump administration launched a new round of Section 301 trade investigations on Wednesday into overcapacity in 16 major trading partners, aiming to reimpose tariff pressures. The U.S. Supreme Court overturned the core elements of Trump’s global tariff plan last month. U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai stated that the investigation targets some of America’s largest trading partners, including the EU, India, Japan, and South Korea. However, Canada was not included in the investigation. It is reported that the Trump administration also plans to initiate another independent investigation as early as Thursday, concerning regulations that prohibit the import of goods produced with forced labor. This investigation is expected to cover at least 60 countries. Tai said that more investigations will be launched gradually in the future. She did not specify which industries or countries might be affected but hinted that the investigations could target issues such as digital service taxes, drug pricing, and other trade matters.
