Supreme Court: Crack down on trafficking! The proportion of "human traffickers" sentenced to more than ten years has increased
According to the Supreme People’s Court, in 2025, the proportion of cases in which the courts sentenced traffickers of women and children to more than ten years in prison was 10.66 percentage points higher than the proportion of all criminal cases during the same period. Crimes involving the trafficking of women and children severely violate human rights, affect family happiness, social stability, and public peace. Courts at all levels not only strictly punish trafficking crimes according to the law but also intensify efforts to crack down on crimes involving the purchase of trafficked women and children and related offenses. Offenders involved in purchasing should be fully prosecuted, and those who commit additional crimes such as rape or illegal detention should be sentenced for multiple offenses. The goal is to curb the “buyer’s market.” (CCTV News)
