According to CCTV News, U.S. President Trump stated on March 11 local time that there are “almost no targets left to strike” inside Iran, and that the U.S. military operations against Iran are “about to end.”

On Wednesday, Trump gave a brief five-minute interview with the media, during which he said, “All that’s left are some scattered targets… As long as I want to end the war, it can end at any time.”

“The progress of this war is going very smoothly. We are far ahead of schedule. The damage we’ve caused has even exceeded what was expected in the original six-week plan,” Trump said.

He also mentioned that Iran’s hostile actions are not only directed at Israel and the U.S., but also against the entire Gulf region.

However, despite Trump publicly signaling that the military operations have basically achieved their goals, U.S. and Israeli officials have stated that no orders have been issued internally yet regarding when to stop fighting.

Israeli Defense Minister Gantz said on Wednesday that the war will “continue without a time limit, as long as necessary, until we achieve all our objectives and decisively win this campaign.”

According to Israeli and U.S. officials, preparations are underway for at least two more weeks of continued strikes against Iran.

On Tuesday, U.S. officials announced intelligence indicating that Iran has begun laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical oil shipping chokepoints, carrying nearly one-third of global seaborne crude oil and one-fifth of global liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments.

U.S. officials said it is currently unclear how many mines Iran has deployed, but assessments suggest the number is very small.

On Wednesday, Trump told the media that the U.S. airstrikes on Tuesday destroyed 16 mine-laying vessels and thwarted Iran’s related plans.

He also threatened that if Iran deploys mines in the Strait of Hormuz, they must be removed immediately, or they will face “unprecedented military consequences.”
