Communication Skills in the Workplace:
1. Charisma: The key is to be sincere, friendly, humble, enthusiastic, lively, and humorous when speaking. Only then will your words be attractive and make others enjoy listening to you and engaging in conversation.
2. Speak Mandarin: It’s best to communicate in standard Mandarin, striving for规范化 (standardization). The minimum requirement is to be easily understandable to others without causing misunderstandings. Also, speak clearly, with a pleasant voice, and give people a sense of beauty.
3. Have a Focus: Your speech should have a clear中心 (center), a main idea. Avoid speaking off the cuff or rambling aimlessly, which can confuse people. Be concise and to the point; avoid verbosity and endless chatter, as this can make others feel annoyed and unwilling to listen further.
4. Pay Attention to Methods and Techniques: Speaking also requires certain skills. Be tactful—use subtlety when needed, be gentle and tactful, and be good at moving others emotionally and convincing them logically.
5. Avoid a Lecturing Tone: The most important thing is not to speak in a condescending or instructive tone, as this is impolite. Use a consultative tone more often. Do not interrupt others or speak out of turn.
6. Cultivate Manners: When encountering unpleasant things in life, do not lose your temper at others, do not use foul language, do not be unreasonable, sarcastic, or hurtful with words. Instead, show good manners and self-cultivation.
7. Be Patient: When others are talking to you, listen attentively without appearing distracted, pretending to listen while reading or looking around, or yawning constantly. Such behavior shows disrespect and can easily offend others, making them less willing to talk to you in the future.
8. Avoid Discussing Others’ Past Mistakes: In social settings, do not arbitrarily belittle others or expose their shortcomings. Try to avoid talking about their past mistakes, physical defects, or sensitive personal or family issues, to prevent hurting others and creating resentment.
