Trump informs aides that he hopes to end the Iran war as soon as possible
ChainCatcher reports that, according to The Wall Street Journal, U.S. President Donald Trump recently told his aides that he wants to avoid a prolonged war with Iran and hopes to end the conflict within the next few weeks. The problem is that Trump does not have a simple way to end the war, and peace negotiations are still in the early stages. In discussions with external political allies, his attention sometimes shifts to other topics, including the upcoming midterm elections and his decision to send immigration officials to the airports and push for legislation in Congress to tighten voter eligibility requirements.
A source familiar with the matter revealed that Trump told a colleague that the war has distracted him, making it difficult to focus on other priorities. Another person who recently spoke with Trump said the president seems ready to shift his focus to the next major challenge, but Trump did not specify what that is.
Some allies hope he will focus on the Cuba issue, while his close advisors want him to pay attention to the issues most important to voters: the rising cost of living, which has been worsened by the war. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, “President Trump is very good at handling multiple tasks at once and managing several challenges simultaneously. The president is fully committed to achieving military objectives against Iran. The president’s only goal is victory.”
