Dutch Expert: US-Israel Actions Against Iran Involve War Crimes; Western Media Muddies the Waters
Dutch International Law Professor Marijke de Hoon from the University of Amsterdam pointed out that attacking civilian energy infrastructure, especially involving nuclear facilities, will have long-term consequences that directly cross legal red lines. In response to the Trump administration’s claim that military action was to prevent the Iranian government from developing nuclear weapons, de Hoon believes that, in the absence of UN Security Council authorization or substantial armed attack, the actions of the U.S. and Israel constitute clear “acts of aggression.” She noted that the “aggressive war” by the U.S. and Israel provides an international legal basis for Iran to exercise its right to self-defense. She criticized Western public opinion for trying to confuse right and wrong and for covering up the initiators of the war. (CCTV News)
