According to Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, March 20 — The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) announced today that in response to illegal activities exposed during the “3.15” Consumer Rights Day Gala, the agency has swiftly deployed measures to investigate and punish violations strictly and promptly according to the law. The SAMR has also conducted interviews and issued supervision notices to relevant local governments and market regulation departments to firmly protect consumers’ legitimate rights and interests.
Wang Qiuping, spokesperson for the SAMR and Director of the Department of News and Publicity, stated that various enforcement actions have already achieved phased progress. Regarding the issue of “bleached chicken feet,” the agency organized a special task force to carry out surprise inspections on the involved companies, seizing on-site 27 barrels of hydrogen peroxide (commonly known as “double oxygen water”) and 551 boxes of chicken feet products.
Concerning the problem of “the ‘all-purpose’ exosomes,” the local drug supervision departments, in cooperation with health, market regulation, and public security authorities, formed inspection teams that confiscated related products on-site. Currently, relevant departments have filed investigations against four involved companies, three medical aesthetic institutions, and medical facilities.
For the issue of “height-increasing marketing tricks,” local market regulation authorities, together with police and health departments, conducted investigations and handling procedures, filing cases against 11 business entities, with samples of related products being sent for testing.
Regarding the “mystery of experts in private domain marketing,” local market regulation departments, in cooperation with police and other agencies, carried out on-site inspections, collecting electronic data and key evidence from the involved companies, including those producing false courses and lectures.
On the matter of the “rampant rental electric bikes,” local market regulation departments, together with transportation and public security authorities, conducted on-site inspections, collecting rental contracts and live broadcast electronic data, as well as fixing evidence such as electric bike license plates and driving licenses, and urging platforms to shut down illegal accounts.
Concerning “who is ‘poisoning’ AI,” local market regulation departments, in cooperation with police, conducted on-site investigations of the involved companies, with police initiating investigations.
The SAMR stated that moving forward, it will continue to work with relevant departments to thoroughly investigate and crack down on illegal activities as soon as they are detected. No violations will be overlooked until fully clarified, and no rectification will be accepted until properly completed.
