On the 25th, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a statement saying that Iran’s air defense forces shot down a U.S. F-18 fighter jet in the airspace near Chabahar in southeastern Iran in the afternoon. The fighter jet subsequently crashed into the Indian Ocean.

The statement emphasized that the fighter jet was hit by Iran’s domestically produced new air defense system. Iran claims this is the fourth recent successful interception of U.S. and Israeli aircraft using domestically made weapons. (Reporter Yu Peng and Li Jiannan from China Central Television)
