On the 22nd local time, two incidents occurred at LaGuardia Airport in New York City. A spokesperson for the New York City Fire Department stated that firefighters received reports of a collision between a passenger plane and a vehicle on the runway at 11:38 p.m. that day. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said in a statement that a Bombardier CRJ-900 operated by Air Canada collided with a rescue and fire vehicle responding to another incident on Runway 4 at LaGuardia Airport. The aircraft is reported to be operated by Jazz Aviation, a Canadian airline. After the incident, LaGuardia Airport was temporarily closed. Sources indicated that the pilot and co-pilot of the involved aircraft suffered fatal injuries. The details of the other incident that prompted the fire vehicle response are not yet clear.
