WellCare of Kentucky, in partnership with the Centene Foundation, has launched a $550,000 “Food is Medicine” program in Eastern Kentucky to combat rising diabetes rates, particularly in rural areas. This initiative will provide eligible Medicaid enrollees with diabetes access to medically tailored meals, recipes, and educational materials for up to three years, building on existing partnerships with Mountain Comprehensive Health Corporation and Community Agricultural Nutritional Enterprises, Inc. The program aims to improve health outcomes and manage chronic disease by integrating healthy food access into healthcare delivery.
